Objectives:
- investigation of sowing value parameters of seeds from conventional and organic farming,
- seed science of crop plants, wild species and weeds, morphological and anatomical characteristics of seeds,
- standardization activity within the Polish Committee for Standardization,
- membership of the International Seed Testing Association - ISTA cooperation with ISTA Technical Committees, proficiency tests, translation ISTA Regulations into Polish,
- laboratory, sampling and field inspection activities are accredited to State Plant Health and Seed Inspection Service,
- training courses for personnel of seed testing laboratories and seed service,
- analysis of seed sowing value and chemical composition - service for breeders and seed industry.

Objectives:
- studies on seed-borne microorganisms in cereals, grasses and grain legumes,
- pathogenicity analysis in populations of pathogens (e.g. Mycosphaerella pinodes), development of screening methodology and search for resistance sources in pea,
- stability and uniformity evaluation of winter triticale cultivars,
- genetic similarity assessment of different taxons of crop plants with electrophoretic markers of storage proteins,
- testing of distinctness and uniformity of lines and cultivars of cereals with method of seed storage proteins electrophoresis - service for plant breeding.
